The seeds of the idea for setting up my own stud were sown in 1976 with the purchase of my first pony, a grey unregistered Welsh Mountain mare called Heidi. I had always loved ponies from being a tiny child and the Welsh were my favourites.

In 1977 I decided I wanted a Welsh Cob, having seen them ‘in action' at local shows and duly purchased a grey 2yr old gelding, Jebeth Flying Circus. He was by Rhosfarch Frenin out of a grey Sec C mare, Olmarch Lady. He certainly showed me what having a Cob was all about, he could be very wilful and was good at rearing up in front of you if he couldn't get his own way! We persevered and broke him at 3yrs and he was a lovely pony to ride and he was my first ‘real love' (I lost him at 15yrs with laminitis and it broke my heart.)

I then decided that I wanted to breed Cobs, and wrote to Alison Mountain at Twyford. She had a mare for sale and I went to see Twyford Chance, Bay by Rhandir Cadno out of Trefaes Cathy. I fell in love with her beautiful liquid eyes and that was it ! She was in foal to Parc Dafydd and produced my first Cob foal in May 1980. She was my favourite colour, black, and I called her Rectory Moon Magic. At that time the stud prefix was ‘Rectory' as the yard where they were kept was in Rectory Lane.

So Chance became my foundation mare and went on to breed 7 foals for me ,before she left us at the good age of 28yrs in 2002.

Moon Magic was covered by Rhystyd Welsh King and produced a bay filly, Rectory Moon Mystique in 1985. ‘Mitzi'is still with me at the age of 21, she bred quite a few foals for me but always colts, and a much wanted filly from her was not to be. She is now retired from breeding and is the herd matriarch. I lost Moon Magic from poisoning in 1986, but I did at least have her daughter.

In 1986 after I lost Moon Magic I wanted another black mare, and the purchase of Trevallion May from an advert in H&H was to change my direction slightly. She was by Cippyn Real Magic out of Gerrig Brenhines by Hewid Cardi.

We showed ‘Lucy' and did well, she was rarely out of the rosettes and won many championships. Shortly after this we were lucky enough to have on loan (later given to us) the beautiful black stallion Ystraddewi Tywysog. Again he was all Nebo Black Magic bred being by Derwen Rosina's Last out of Ystraddewi Margarita by Parc Lucky Strike. He again was shown and won numerous championships.

Another mare was purchased, Hendy Brenin lines this time…Aran Gingersnap by Aran Idris out of Aran Brenhines.

As I had always been an admirer of Parc Dafydd, we purchased one of his last colt foals in 1987, Twyford Geraint. ‘Gerry' was shown as a youngster and won numerous 1st prizes and championships as a 3yr old.

Due to a sudden change in my circumstances in 1992, the breeding had to be put on 'hold', and Tywysog was reluctantly sold as I was now on my own and couldn't cope with two stallions.

As I had become a bit disillusioned with the 'politics' of Cob showing, I decided to buy a Section A filly and went back to Twyford as I am a great admirer of these ponies, and bought Twyford Naranja, a bright chestnut. The decision was made to only breed Section A's of colour. So Rectory Park stud was now A & D.

Between 1992 and the present, only a couple of foals were bred as I had lost grazing and my time was so limited due to work commitments.

In 2003 I married my husband (who is ‘non horsey!) and we decided to move to Wales with the intention of restarting my stud again.

With this in mind,as it was the start of a new life, I decided to rename the stud 'Prengwyn'. It does have a relevance to where I started. Prengwyn in Welsh means 'whitewood', it is the name of the next village to ours, and at the time of my most successful breeding programme Rectory Park stud was situated in White wood Lane!

Now I have brought you up to date, I hope you enjoy my website and my ponies. My aim is to breed quality ponies with the confirmation and true welsh action to enable them to excel in any discipline. To this end I only breed a few foals a year and hope to show a selection of my stock that are not being bred from, each year. Foals will be for sale at weaning.

I would like to say a big 'Thank you' to Danni Morgan who shows my ponies so well!
